![]() ![]() So when you import transactions if you take the time to change the types to what you’d like them to be, the next time you import banktivity will remember your preference for that payee. However they only did it for manual entries. In fact I did send them a request which they honored to make the default within credit card accounts be Charge rather than withdrawal. On the flipside, I wouldn’t want to have to put the same notation on every single line of a split when the note I’m making applies to the whole transaction even though the transaction effects multiple categories.Īs far as the type field, I would like to see banktivity default the type based on the type of transaction. Dive deep into how importing works in Banktivity and how memorized payees and import rules keep your financial data nice and clean. One reason I may split a transaction is to be able to enter a note that applies only to that line item. That way I can attach information that’s important to me either to the transaction as a whole or to individual splits within the transaction. I like having both the notes and the memo field. Perhaps if some users do need this field, you could at least hide it from the ledger, and show it only when you expand a transaction. No need to further specify in the "Type" field. If there is a value in the Charge column, then it's a charge. My logic is this: If there is a value in the Payment column, then it's a payment. In my credit card accounts, literally every single transaction is called a Withdrawal, even when it's a payment. Is there any reason to have two separate text fields for this? I think this worked better in version 5.Īlso - I don't like seeing the word "Withdrawal" in every transaction, because it make the screen look more cluttered. This will save five presses of the Tab key when entering new transactions. I suggest removing the "notes" field completely, and showing the "memo" in the ledger for non-split transactions. ![]() It's the same type of information, but in one case I write as a note, and in the other case I write as a memo. For non-split transactions, I write in the "notes" field so that it appears in the ledger. For split transactions, I like to write a memo for each split. It's confusing, because both of those words mean the same thing. I do not like the new feature of having separate "notes" and "memos". ![]() I would like to know if other people feel the same way: I just sent this email feature request to IGG support. ![]()
